Dr. Vahid Disfani has been an Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering and the director of the Connect Smart Research Laboratory at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga since 2017. He received his bachelor’s degree from Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2006 and his master’s degree from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2008, both in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Disfani received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL in 2015 and was affiliated with the Center for Energy Research at the University of California San Diego as a postdoctoral scholar in 2015-2017. He is a member of IEEE Power and Energy, Power Electronics, and Industrial Electronics societies. Dr. Disfani is an active reviewer for top-tier Elsevier journals and IEEE Transactions. 

Area of Interests

His research fields of interest include power system optimization and control, grid integration of renewable energy resources, advanced power electronic solutions, distributed optimization and control platforms, power markets and power system economics.
